Knowledge changes life

Behind every innovation is the idea of making life a little easier and a little better. And yet, for an innovation to prevail, people have to have confidence in it.

Building at dizzying heights?
Without lifts, this would be out of the question. However, it was only when lifts were first equipped with fall protection devices later in the 19th century that the idea of working on upper storeys became an attractive one. Today, lift systems are often connected to building technology via sensors and smart interfaces. This enables, for example, more efficient and predictive maintenance.

We help our customers to turn their knowledge into safe and secure technologies and products – and to grow by doing so. This also allows us to constantly expand our own stores of knowledge.

Cars that park themselves or drive autonomously?
This would have been inconceivable until the invention of the most sensitive sensors and ultrafast data processing. These record every obstacle with complete precision and are already making parking safer than ever for the driver, the vehicle and everyone around them.

For more than 150 years, we have taken a particular responsibility for society and the environment. This is what drives us. Always has, and always will.

Travel at the speed of sound – fast, quiet and environmentally friendly?
What still sounds more like science fiction than a feasible technology could become reality in the not-too-distant future. Engineers around the world are already working on solutions with the vision of revolutionising long-distance transport.
