19.04.2016 | Company: After more than ten years at the top of TÜV NORD GROUP, Guido Rettig (62) will retire from his office as Chairman at the end of 2016.
  • Two long-standing members of the Board of Management – Chairman Guido Rettig and Klaus Kleinherbers – will step down at the end of 2016.
  • The Advisory Board of TÜV NORD AG has appointed Dirk Stenkamp as the new Chairman of the Board of Management, taking effect on 1 January 2017.

After more than ten years at the top of TÜV NORD GROUP, Guido Rettig (62) will retire from his office as Chairman at the end of 2016. “The direction for the next decade is clear; all areas of the organization are on the road to the digital age. The end of the year is a good time for me to pass on the baton, and until then I will continue to work intensively with managers and all members of the workforce on the future of our Group.”

In 1993, Guido Rettig came as a qualified engineer to TÜV Nord e. V. in Hamburg, which at that time had 1,800 employees. Three years later he was appointed as a Member of the Board of Management, responsible for energy and systems engineering. At the beginning of 2006 he became Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD GROUP.
During his period of office as Chairman of the Board, TÜV NORD developed into a leading international technical service provider. Today, the global workforce of the Group is 13,000 strong and is active in more than 70 countries.

Guido Rettig will move full time to the shareholder side of the enterprise as from 2017.

At the beginning of next year, Dirk Stenkamp (53) – currently the Management Board Member responsible for Industry, IT and International Business - will move to the top of TÜV NORD GROUP. Stenkamp is a physicist and in 2013 moved from the Board of Management of the international listed company Centrotherm AG (solar and semiconductor sector) to the Board of TÜV NORD AG. Before this, he worked for many years at management and Board level within the Carl-Zeiss Group. Stenkamp: “This new appointment as Chairman of the Board is a challenge, but above all, will motivate me even more strongly in my work for TÜV NORD. In the past three years, all those who work here have impressed and amazed me with their experience, their knowledge and their readiness to instigate and accept change. This provides an excellent basis for further development of our TÜV NORD GROUP going forward.”

The Member of the Board responsible for the Mobility Business Unit, Klaus Kleinherbers (61), will also retire from the Board at the end of the year following his very successful term of office.

Kleinherbers, also a physicist, came to TÜV Nord e. V. in Hamburg in 1993 as Head of the Plant Engineering Division. In 1996 he was appointed to the Board of Management, where he has remained up to this day. Following many years as Head of the Industry Business Unit, he assumed responsibility for the Mobility Business Unit in 2007. “Together with all our workforce, we have continued to develop TÜV NORD Mobilität in a changing world. Nowhere is the pace of innovation so rapid as in the motor vehicle sector, and we are as well prepared for this as we are for our new tasks and the challenges they bring. The Mobility Business Unit and the Group have great prospects for the future.”

As from 2017, Klaus Kleinherbers will stay connected to the Group and move to the Executive Board of TÜV shareholders.

The Advisory Board of TÜV NORD AG will decide on the long-term structure of its Board of Management in due course.
