TÜViT and mediaTest digital announced their cooperation today at CeBIT 2014; together the partners will be launching the “Application Security Center” (ASC) portal in June of this year. The portal will bundle and offer to companies all solutions for security of mobile end devices and for all of Enterprise Mobility. This integrated range of products and services, which is unique in Europe at the present time, is initially intended for companies and App developers and provides answers to the challenges arising from the use of mobile devices within corporate IT.

The cooperation will enable TÜViT and mediaTest digital to combine their strengths in the area of IT Security. The experience and well-developed structures at TÜViT complement the dynamism and innovative strength of mediaTest digital. This means that the partners can react fast and effectively to changes in the market – particularly changes related to mobile devices. “The dynamic mobile world of work is making it increasingly difficult to guarantee security of data at all times. We are very pleased to be bundling our strengths with those of mediaTest digital and to offer new solutions in order to provide this security”, says Antonius Sommer, Managing Director of TÜViT.

The basis of this approach is the Application Security Center, with its focus on the so-called “Trusted App Directory”, an App portfolio which has been tested for data security and data protection. “In times of growing uncertainty, as have followed the sale of Whatsapp to Facebook and the revelations of Edward Snowden, the Trusted App Directory helps to enhance data security on mobile end devices, create transparency for companies with regard to security risks and therefore to meet one of the most important challenges faced by mobile IT”, explains Tobias Berlin, Managing Director and joint founder of mediaTest digital.

In addition to companies, App providers and developers can also make use of the solutions offered by the Application Security Center in the form of App audits and certificates. If the stringent test standards are met, the mobile applications are granted the “Trusted App” seal of quality. This seal of quality will be awarded in future by partners TÜViT and mediaTest digital as a benchmark for data protection and security of mobile applications. Some clients, such as Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Post and ebay subsidiary brands4friends, are already referring to the seal when advertising their Apps.
