TÜV NORD at Agritechnica in Hanover – “Sowing safety, reaping success. All over the world.”

06.11.2015 | Traffic: New European Regulation VO (EU) No.167/2013, which offers agricultural machinery manufacturers the opportunity of gaining type approval for tractors, trailers and interchangeable towed equipment, is the focus for TÜV NORD Mobility at the Agritechnica Fair in Hanover.

New European Regulation VO (EU) No.167/2013, which offers agricultural machinery manufacturers the opportunity of gaining type approval for tractors, trailers and interchangeable towed equipment, is the focus for TÜV NORD Mobility at the Agritechnica Fair in Hanover. Other important themes for the TÜV experts will be exhaust emissions (mobile measurement with PEMS) and electronics, for example in connection with functional safety. This year’s banner: “Sowing safety, reaping success. All over the world.”

Agritechnica is seen as the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment. Every two years it is host to innovations in the area of agricultural technology and showcases state of the art solutions and concepts for the future of arable farming.

Of particular interest for the sector is the new Regulation for manufacturers which relates to EU type approval for agricultural vehicles and machinery. Twenty-five years after issue of the first European operating permit, the harmonised legislation for tractors has been completely rewritten and fundamentally reformed. The previous rules and regulations were in fact originally restricted to tractors, but then the scope was extended to cover towed machinery and equipment. The aim was to improve both road and occupational safety and also the environmental friendliness of this category of vehicles.

As the reform of the Regulation involves a large number of technical and administrative changes, the affected manufacturers, Technical Services and approval authorities have to undertake considerably more work than was previously the case. TÜV NORD Mobilität is therefore making use of the opportunity offered by Agritechnica to provide comprehensive information on the subject, which is of great importance to the sector.

Because of the current discussions centering on emissions, the new PEMS system should also be of considerable interest to visitors. With the ‘Portable Emission Measurement System’, exhaust gases can now also be measured directly on the road, a field track or even a ploughed field – to the benefit of the environment. TÜV NORD will explain this new measurement procedure along with details on proposed legislation.

Clients and interested members of the public are warmly invited to visit TÜV NORD in Hall 16, Stand G 09.

On 11 November at 10 am there will be an English-language presentation on the new Regulation in the ‘Systems & Components’ Forum.
