TÜViT receives official certificate of recognition for Qatar Common Criteria Scheme (QCCS)

Essen | 15.06.2022: TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH (TÜViT) is the first IT Security evaluation body recognized in the Qatar Common Criteria Scheme. The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) handed over the official certificate of recognition to the IT security service provider at the Qatar Cyberspace Governance and Assurance Conference in presence of Qatar's Minister of Transportation, the Chief of Police, and high-ranking military officials.

It was a festive moment that took place at the Sheraton Convention Hotel in Doha when Dirk Kretzschmar, Managing Director of TÜV Informationstechnik, received the official QCCS certificate of recognition from Abdulrahman Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki, President of the NCSA. After all, the recognition is not only a success for the IT security service provider from Essen, but also symbolizes Qatar's ambitious goals in cyber security. In this context, the NCSA president described cyber security as an essential pillar for the continuity and security of the country's technological infrastructure at all levels and in all sectors. In order to strengthen these in long terms, Qatar has joined the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) and is promoting national and international accreditation and certification programs. The aim of these is to define and establish national and international IT security standards in information technology.

With its recognition, TÜViT is also making an active contribution to raising IT security standards in the region. As the first lab of its kind on the Arabian Peninsula, the company can test high-security IT components and its security functionality. Basis for this is the Qatar Common Criteria Scheme.

"We are pleased to support Qatar with our testing laboratory and in-depth Common Criteria (CC) experience as it moves towards greater cybersecurity and higher IT security standards. The QCCS recognition is an important milestone in this process," says Dirk Kretzschmar.

The Qatar Cyberspace Governance and Assurance Conference aimed to raise awareness of NCSA's role in ensuring national cybersecurity through its accreditation and certification programs.

In addition to the certificate of recognition, the NCSA also presented DERMALOG, Germany's largest manufacturer of biometric devices and systems, with a certificate for the first CC project in the region successfully carried out by TÜViT.
