TÜV NORD Greater China has now certified a terminal box for use in explosion-proof areas in accordance with the ATEX 2014/34/EU directive. The manufacturer is Warom Technology. Founded 30 years ago, the company specialises in the manufacture of explosion-proof luminaires and electrical equipment for industry, mining, marine and offshore applications.

In potentially explosive atmospheres such as offshore platforms, petrochemical plants, mills or underground locations, electrical installations must meet special requirements. In atmospheres containing flammable substances, they must be encapsulated in order to avoid the formation of sparks in these atmospheres, which would lead to explosions. The European Union requires all equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres and placed on the market in the EU to be certified in accordance with directive ATEX 2014/34/EU. Its main purpose is to protect persons working in potentially explosive atmospheres or who may be affected by explosions. It contains essential health and safety requirements to be observed by manufacturers and verified by conformity assessment procedures. This was the task of the team around Andy Lu from TÜV NORD Greater China.

Jun Wan Ren, Managing Director of TÜV NORD Greater China, congratulated the individuals responsible at Warom on their successful certification during the presentation of the certificate at the Warom headquarters in Shanghai. That the company can now export this terminal box to the European Union represents an important milestone.

According to Warom Technology’s deputy General Manager Li Jiang, the company's products are constantly being improved to “meet the global standard and customer requirements. As a listed company, this successful certification is extremely important to us.”
