CRRC Shandong Co., Ltd. (a member of the CRRC Group) has signed a contract with TÜV NORD Greater China for the homologation services according to TSI standards for a delivery to Switzerland. HUPAC placed an order for the delivery of container flat wagons. Based on the comprehensive and professional service platform of TÜV NORD, TÜV NORD Luxembourg is to be appointed to act as the Notified Body (NoBo), and TÜV NORD Systems will take care of the interaction for support purposes with the Swiss authority “Bundesamt für Verkehr” (BAV; Federal Office of Transport).

The HUPAC Flat Wagon is under development.

CRRC, headquartered in Beijing, China, is the world’s largest rolling stock manufacturer and one of the largest international industrial groups. HUPAC, based in Chiasso, Switzerland, specialises in transports across the Alps but also operates freight transport routes across Europe. The company, with more than 450 staff, operates over 5,900 carriage modules and 10 mainline and/or shunting locomotives.

This marks the first time that CRRC has entered the Swiss rail market. Moreover, in the wake of the shunting locomotive project for Deutsche Bahn, CRRC has once again selected TÜV NORD as its homologation service provider. This new order marks the third successful cooperation in the Rail OBS since the start of the BOLD MOVE project. “We in the Rail OBS are professional and competitive not only in the European market but also in the world’s biggest railway market,” says Mike Walter, Executive Vice President for the Rail business segment.
