TÜV NORD is now an accepted Inspection and Certification Body within the IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to the Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications (IECRE). This was announced by the Solar PV Energy Operational Management Committee. The IECRE was established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in September 2014. The aims were, firstly, to facilitate the international transactions of renewable energy power stations based on technically verifiable parameters and facts and, secondly, to obtain the recognition of the local and national institutions and markets where the entities requiring certification and the beneficiaries are located.

“TÜV NORD has now become one of the most important players in the photovoltaic market,” says Dr Ralf Jung, Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD Systems. And he continues: “TÜV NORD has in this way broadened its scope and strengthened its market position in the photovoltaic industry.”

The TÜV NORD GROUP’s certification company TÜV NORD CERT, headquartered in Essen, Germany, has been awarded the recognition, along with TÜV NORD Greater China in Shanghai, China, and TÜV HELLAS based in Athens, Greece. The companies joined forces to achieve the highly lucrative goal. They can now inspect and verify photovoltaic power plants and certify them according to the new system in different project phases. “The qualification to issue dual certificates is a milestone for TÜV NORD in its quest to offer one-stop-shop certification services,” says TÜV NORD’s Certification Scheme Manager Matthias Böttcher.

“We’re testing the efficiency of solar power plants," says Angella Xu, Vice President of TÜV NORD Greater China. “Based on the results, investors can estimate how high the return on their investment could be. In this way, we’re also offering a benefit to investors by carrying out plant inspections on behalf of the operator."
