TÜV Middle East recently concluded its first major contract with US-based company Six Flags for a new park in Dubai, scheduled to open in 2019. Six Flags, primarily active in the USA and Europe, operates more than 40 parks and is now focusing on new park developments in other areas around the globe. TÜV Middle East concluded this contract in concert with the Competence Center Amusement & Leisure, whose global network and key account management paved the way to offering these services to Six Flags in Dubai.

TÜV Middle East will provide services including design review, factory inspection and site acceptance tests for most of the rides. The project will be executed by various TÜV NORD entities. The new Six Flags Dubai park will be operated by Dubai Parks and Resorts, which opened 3 new parks in Dubai last year (LEGOLAND, Bollywood, Motion Gate).

“Amusement park inspection services were only launched by TÜV Middle East at the beginning of this year, with the strategic aim of diversifying its oil & gas based business in the Middle East,” says Manoj Shetty, Deputy Vice President of TÜV Middle East. “With this major contract, we will enhance the capability of TÜV NORD in the amusement and leisure business in the Middle East region.”

Ralph Pesgens, head of the Competence Center Amusement & Leisure, adds: “The Middle East has been one of our key markets for international business development. The amusement and leisure market in the region is growing rapidly, and the demand for our services is extremely high. Shortly after obtaining the local accreditation for Dubai, we managed to acquire this significant reference project thanks to the relentless efforts of the local team and excellent collaboration between all the TÜV NORD subsidiaries involved. We’ve also acquired further projects and established contact with other major players, and are quickly positioning TÜV NORD as a key player in the region.”
