TÜV Middle East has once again strengthened its market presence by certifying one of Kuwait’s biggest oil refineries, the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The company was granted an Integrated Management System Certification for the Quality Management System, the Environmental System and the Occupational Health & Safety Management system based on ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 respectively. KNPC, founded in 1949, is one of the world’s largest refineries and is also one of the only refineries in Kuwait. Its activities include the provision of all fuels, including gasoline, diesel, kerosene and gas.

KNPC is acting in line with its strategic expansion plan in the downstream sector by carrying out several mega-projects, including the Clean Fuel Project, Al Zour Refinery, North LPG Tank Farms and the 5th Gas Train Project. The Al Zour Refinery, in particular, is one of the biggest projects in terms of size presently being implemented in the Middle East.

“Our aim is to be the main quality partner to major oil companies in the region,” says Jamal Al Baeejan, CEO of TÜV Middle East. “This certification is another feather in our cap when it comes to promoting the TÜV NORD brand in the Middle East region in all segments of the business,” Jamal Al Baeejan adds.
