Certifications and training are important areas for TÜV NORD Mexico

The TÜV NORD Mexico team.

TÜV NORD Mexico has crossed the sales threshold of one million euros for the first time. The company, which was founded in December 2014, is growing thanks to the efforts of a small but highly motivated team. We talked to Raul Mitre, General Manager of TÜV NORD Mexico, about the company’s success.

What is behind the success of TÜV NORD Mexico?

We’ve been a highly motivated and dedicated team from the outset, and still are. We’ve maintained our team spirit since day one.

Which areas have been the most successful?

The most important areas are system certification and training. Since day one, we’ve all known that we need to acquire customers and perform audits to succeed as a company. What has helped us has been our motivation to gain significant market share in the region. Our team is very committed, and everyone is familiar with all the operating units in the company. Which means that we’re very flexible and constantly able to improve our services.

Which certifications are particularly in demand?

Most of our customers are looking for quality, environment and occupational health and safety management systems from the ISO 9000, 14000 and 45000 families of standards. However, because some well-known automotive manufacturers have opened plants in Mexico, the IATF 16949 automotive quality standard also plays an important role. The manufacturers include BMW, Audi, KIA, Toyota, Honda and Mazda. We hope that they’ve enough confidence in our expertise to commission us with certification work.

Is TÜV NORD Mexico also tapping into new fields of work?

Absolutely. The most important new area for us at the moment is the medical devices sector. Over 70 companies in this sector have moved into the Mexican state of Baja California. In 2018, these invited us to a congress, at which we had the opportunity to introduce our services. We’re also working to set ourselves up as a certifier in accordance with the ISO 13485 standard, which is the standard for the design and manufacture of medical devices. We also aim to offer training courses in this field.
