The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) of Saudi Arabia is using the ISO 9001:2015 standard to maintain its quality management system throughout the Kingdom. SWCC is the Saudi Government Corporation responsible for the desalination of seawater and its supply to various regions of the Kingdom. An ISO 9001:2015 certificate was issued by FAHSS TÜV NORD to SWCC during the Quality Day celebration which took place in Riyadh in November last year after successful completion of the audits. These were carried out at the various facilities of the SWCC by the lead auditors from FAHSS TÜV NORD. The auditors praised the strengths of SWCC, such as the dedication of its top management and its vast infrastructure, while also making many recommendations for their further improvement.

Water is produced by plants that are operated and maintained by the corporation. These 28 plants are distributed across 17 sites located on the eastern and western coasts of Saudi Arabia. The total production of these plants is estimated at 4.6 million cubic metres per day. From the international perspective, Saudi Arabia produces 22 % of the world’s desalinated water.

SWCC also distributes water to the different regions in Saudi Arabia using pipeline networks totaling 5,600 km in length. SWCC also undertakes scientific research with regard to water desalination and to discover new techniques and methods to reduce costs and protect the environment.
