Office is developing well in an economically interesting environment

Dr Dirk Stenkamp (centre) met a TÜV NORD team from South East Asia in Singapore.

During his recent visit, Dr Dirk Stenkamp expressed his delight with the successful development of the Singapore branch office. TÜV NORD Singapore, a subsidiary of TÜV NORD Thailand, was founded a year ago and has developed well since then. Despite its small size, the market for technical testing, inspection and certification in Singapore has a volume of the equivalent of over 200 million euros per year. The government is encouraging local companies to become certified, with the aim of making them competitive in the global market. An annual training budget of the equivalent of over two billion euros is available for this purpose. Singapore also acts as gateway for the latest technological trends such as Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence in the high-potential ASEAN region.

Dr Dirk Stenkamp made a presentation for participants of a meeting of the System Certification Cluster Southeast Asia.

Several internationally active certification companies have huge set ups in the financial metropolis of Singapore. From the TIC industry perspective, Singapore is the regional headquarter for various leading Certification Bodies, owing to the immense potential offered mainly on the three fronts – the corporate clientele, access to SEA market and the specialised services around the shipping and related segments like export/import, Oil & Gas, logistics, finance and IT. TÜV NORD Singapore was founded in November 2018 and has since been able to acquire several well-known customers from various industries. Strong and sustainable relationships have also been established with local agencies and international branches, including the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and the Singapore German Chamber of Commerce. The small but strong team of TÜV NORD Singapore consists of employees with different backgrounds and experience, thus offering an effective blend of technical know-how and entrepreneurial understanding.

During this visit Dr Stenkamp also spoke to the top management of various companies and agencies as well as government officials at the “Meet The CEO” event, which was concerned with “Digital Readiness for Your Customers and Employees”. This was organised by TÜV NORD Singapore and the German Chamber of Commerce Singapore. He also met employees of the System Certification Cluster Southeast Asia.

With a well-crafted and methodological approach, TÜV NORD Singapore has acquired several clients from the lucrative segments like automotive and semiconductor corporations for niche and highly specialised services like ISO 26262 (Automobile Functional Safety) and ISO 14064 (Green House Gas Verification) amongst other offerings. “TNSG has a strong focus on maintaining a strategic position in the market by capitalising the gap often overlooked by bigger CBs and out of the reach of the smaller TIC firms”, explains Gaurava Mishra of TÜV NORD Singapore. In addition TÜV NORD Singapore also offers training courses like VDA, FMEA and Energy Efficiency amongst others, which has also gathered significant traction over the last few months. Mr Mishra says: “In Singapore, we have the potential to become one of the most successful and fastest growing centres in the Southeast Asian cluster; it's only a matter of time,” he says. He quotes a famous saying: “Nothing is impossible to the willing minds.”
