Signing the strategic partnership: the World’s biggest wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind and TÜV NORD China.
For years, China has been at the top of the global wind installation rankings. In 2017, the country installed more than 188,000 MW of wind energy capacity, and the trend is rising. For comparison, Germany’s total installed capacity was in the region of 56,000 MW. So it follows that the sector needs to look to China. And it has done so twice in recent weeks: TÜV NORD recently showed its colours at one of the largest get-togethers in the sector, the WindPower Asia trade fair in Beijing, where it intensified existing customer contacts and celebrated two successes. Lennart Klüppel from TÜV NORD EnSys also gave two presentations on the new IECRE scheme and the inspection of rotor blades. A few weeks earlier, TÜV NORD had invited manufacturers to a seminar attended by over 70 representatives from the Chinese wind energy sector.
TÜV NORD has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Goldwind, the world’s largest manufacturer of wind turbines. Through intensive and close cooperation, both sides intend to improve their cooperation in the testing and quality assessment of rotor blades. TÜV NORD China is also going to support Goldwind in its efforts to promote the optimisation and innovation of its products.
In a further development, Jun Ren, General Manager of TÜV NORD China, presented a certificate to Sinoma Wind Power Blade. The company had commissioned TÜV NORD with the certification of the Sinoma72A, an optimised version of the Sinoma72 series rotor blades, which are used in offshore wind farms and have been certified for a service life of 25 years.
Some weeks before the WindPower China fair, TÜV NORD had organised a seminar in Suzhou for many of the top companies in the Chinese wind energy sector. Here, existing and potential customers had the opportunity to find out about current issues, challenges and developments in the wind energy sector. The response was very good, with more than 70 manufacturer representatives making the journey to Suzhou. The event was organised by the wind team in Shanghai, which also made a major contribution to the presentations. Interesting presentations were given by TÜV NORD’s Dr Britta Schacht, Senior Vice President Certification Renewables, and Niklas Hilmes, an expert in mechanical engineering and drive components.
