20.02.2014: Dr. Ortrun Janson-Mundel has again been appointed Vice Chairman of the German EMAS Advisory Board (UGA). Dr. Janson-Mundel, who is Managing Director of TÜV NORD Cert Umweltgutachter GmbH and Head of the Integrated Management System Department of TÜV NORD CERT, has been supporting the work of the Federal Environment Ministry since 2008.

Dr Ortrun Janson-Mundel has again been appointed Vice Chairman of the German EMAS Advisory Board (UGA). Dr Janson-Mundel, who is Managing Director of TÜV NORD Cert Umweltgutachter GmbH and Head of the Integrated Management System Department of TÜV NORD CERT, has been supporting the work of the Federal Environment Ministry since 2008. As its name suggests, the UGA advises the Ministry in the implementation of the European environmental management system EMAS. “I am very pleased about the confidence that the Ministry has shown in me and I am sure that together we will succeed in ensuring that the EMAS Regulation is considered more extensively within European and German legislation”, says Dr Janson-Mundel.

Exciting tasks await the UGA in the next three years. “The most important thing is to ensure that the German voice is heard in the European discussion regarding the new version of the EMAS Regulation which is planned for 2015. Besides this, the UGA wants to engage more strongly in the political debate, to establish EMAS on the international stage as a reliable ecological pillar of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and also to emphasise the added value provided by EMAS. Themes such as energy efficiency and efficient use of resources, climate protection and biodiversity are very much at the top of the agenda”, notes Dr Janson-Mundel.

As an advisory body of the Federal Environment Ministry, the German EMAS Advisory Board - which was established in 1995 - is particularly committed to implementation and wider use of EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Dr Michael Schemmer is Chairman of the Board.
