Careers at TÜV NORD Mobility
An engineer by trade – a DIY enthusiast at heart
Join a role that makes a real difference: ensuring safe mobility for everyone. With your technical expertise and our training, you’ll help make the roads a little safer – every day.

Do you have a technical mind, love vehicles and don’t want to just sit at a desk? Do you enjoy working independently, like interacting with customers and are you approachable? Then you’d be a great fit for us – because that’s exactly what our day-to-day work as a test engineer is all about.
To qualify, you must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Qualification may also be possible with degree programmes covering comparable subject matter, but this always requires a case-by-case assessment. These may include: production engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, shipbuilding and marine engineering, and medical technology
. Here, engineering expertise meets a passion for tinkering! You should therefore have an interest in hands-on engineering work and an affinity for technology and vehicles. As well as the practical side of the job, we also place great importance on interacting with people. That’s why we’re looking for someone with an open and communicative nature, for whom the satisfaction of our customers is a matter close to their heart.
If you also hold at least a Category B driving licence and have German language skills at C1 level, you’ve come to the right place!
Yes, all you need to start your training is a valid Category B driving licence. You will need to obtain all other driving licences during your training. By the way: we cover the full cost of your lorry and motorcycle licences!
**The specific terms of cost coverage may vary depending on the business division, role and location – however, this is standard practice within the group.
TÜV NORD has 22 regions where you can apply for a role. Within these regions, we offer a variety of locations and options, as we operate not only from our own testing centres but also directly at our customers’ car dealerships and garages. We always try to place our staff as close to their homes as possible.
As a test engineer, you’ll work closely with vehicles and have daily contact with customers. You’ll test a wide variety of vehicles – from motorbikes and cars to classic cars, vans and lorries – and ensure they’re safe on the road. Your job is varied, involves a great deal of responsibility and combines technology with communication.
The specific benefits may vary depending on the role and area of work – however, they are standard practice within the group.
For me, mobility means staying flexible, continuing to learn, and living by and promoting safety and quality.
Lea Reuter
Team Leader for Vehicle Owners (TÜV NORD branches) – Weser-Ems region

As a test engineer, you’ll work wherever mobility is being tested – depending on where you live or your career aspirations. In every role, you’ll carry out tests just as you’ve been trained to do, always with the same goal in mind: to enable safe mobility.
