Has a wind farm actually produced the predicted yields at its specific location? TÜV NORD has now been accredited by the German accreditation body DAkkS for this determination of site quality after commissioning. “Operators of wind farms in Germany that are subsidized and remunerated under the EEG 2021 must have the site quality determined by an accredited expert five, ten and fifteen years after commissioning of the wind turbines - this is a prerequisite for further remuneration of the electricity generated,” explains Lena Brautmeier, Team Leader Wind & Yield at TÜV NORD.

The operating data of the wind turbines, which are evaluated using a complex technical procedure in accordance with the Technical Guideline TR10 of the FGW (Fördergesellschaft Wind und andere dezentrale Energien), serve as the basis for determining the site quality. TÜV NORD has developed its own software for the digital evaluation of this operating data. The results were validated in extensive round robin tests via the FGW. Accreditation has now been granted by the DAkkS.

The new procedure is already being used in the first customer projects. This can also be useful before the five-year deadline expires, adds Lena Brautmeier: “We also carry out interim evaluations and a check that the data is being recorded correctly in order to ensure that the site quality is determined on time.”
