Company: WirtschaftsWoche awards business prize for the TÜV NORD GROUP's “NOVA” organizational project.
In the course of this year's award ceremony of the business magazine WirtschaftsWoche for outstanding corporate projects, the development of a new organisation of the TÜV NORD GROUP was awarded first prize in the ‘Organisation’ category. The evaluation criteria were methodology, communication, creativity and impact. The organisational structure developed together with project partner Horváth impressed the high-calibre jury from the worlds of business, science and journalism.
‘The award confirms that we are on the right path and are fully aligned with the needs of our customers. We have expertise in very different sectors, all of which are confronted with major technological changes. We also wanted to adapt to this in terms of our organisation. Accordingly, we designed the NOVA organisational project as a project for the future and growth. The project team has implemented these requirements in an exemplary manner,’ says Dr Dirk Stenkamp, CEO of TÜV NORD AG.
New impetus through new organisational connections
Launched in September 2022 with a comprehensive diagnostic phase, the project initially aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the structural challenges. The impetus was the reformulation of the Group's corporate purpose with the aim of creating more trust in new technologies. In order to be able to fulfil this purpose in the best possible organisational way, more than ten corporate scenarios were initially developed with the TÜV NORD GROUP's Board of Management. These were prioritised and then further developed with over 100 experts from the company, focused on one approach and implemented.
The result is an organisation with six Business Units and two Group Divisions working under the umbrella of the TÜV NORD GROUP. The technological and social transformations relevant to customers are addressed directly by the new structures and mapped in a customer-centred manner.
Jens Neubert, Head of Strategy at TÜV NORD GROUP, believes that NOVA is bringing together within the company what belongs together in times of major technological transformation: ‘The restructuring has broken down existing organisational boundaries and reorganised units. This has created new networks and aligned competences more consistently with the market.’
Future-orientated positioning
WirtschaftsWoche presents the ‘Best of Consulting Award’ annually for outstanding consulting projects. It is regarded as one of the leading business awards in Germany. Dr Oliver Greiner, Partner and expert in strategy and transformation, supervised the project on behalf of management consultancy Horváth. For him, the award confirms that organisational adjustments can provide new momentum: ‘The reorganisation of the TÜV NORD GROUP was carried out from a position of strength: with a turnover of over 1.5 billion euros and currently more than 15,000 employees in over 100 countries, the Group has developed successfully over many years. Nevertheless, the technology service provider has not been satisfied with this, but has questioned familiar structures. In my view, this is a typical characteristic of forward-looking companies.’
