Large padel hall opens at TÜV NORD Technology Park North

TÜV NORD GROUP: Die wohl modernste Padel-Halle Deutschlands steht in Essen

Fast balls are now flying at the TÜV NORD Technologiepark Nord site: After just eleven months of construction, the operator We Are Padel has put the hall into operation. “Germany's most modern padel hall is now open in Essen under the supervision of national player Daniel Lingen,” says Tobias Deventer, Country Manager Germany at We Are Padel. “We are proud to be working with TÜV NORD as a partner to launch the new building with ideal conditions for the fastest growing sport in the world.”

With a ceiling height of ten meters and comfortable lounge areas for players, the newest padel club offers optimal conditions for everyone who enjoys padel, a sport similar to tennis. Professionals, amateurs and beginners are welcome and can now book courts at www.wearepadel.com/de/essen.

Two people sit on a gray sofa in a modern padel hall and look through a glass wall at a game in progress on a blue padel court. In the background, other players are active on neighboring courts, while the hall with its concrete walls and artificial lighting conveys an industrial atmosphere.

One of the largest padel halls in Germany

With 3,500 square meters, athletes have eight doubles courts and two singles courts at their disposal, making the hall one of the largest in Germany. There are also 500 square meters of office and ancillary space, which can also be booked for events.

“We are delighted to have won We Are Padel, an internationally established sports park operator, for our first construction project on our Technology Park North, which has now been completed, and to have been able to retain them for the long term,” says Christian Gorris, Managing Director of TÜV NORD Immobilien. The so-called Flexhalle is located in the street Am Wetterschacht 4-8, with access via the street Am Schacht Hubert. Gorris: “We want to offer additional office space on the northern site and further develop the Essen Technology Park. This also includes a good offer for recreational sports, which we can certainly provide with padel tennis.”

Technology Park North is being developed:

TÜV NORD is currently developing the 75,000 square meter Technologiepark Nord site into a contemporary and sustainable business park. The new German headquarters of the Swedish industrial group Atlas Copco for 350 employees and a daycare center are being built in the immediate vicinity of the Padel Hall. Both buildings are scheduled for completion in 2025. Last Friday (January 19), a TÜV NORD station for vehicle testing was also opened nearby.

Opening weekend February 2 to 4

“In Düsseldorf, we saw how quickly padel can capture the hearts of all sportsmen and women,” says Deventer. “The very high occupancy rate and the need for another padel hall in the region was a clear motivation for us to continue growing for our community here.”

The regional manager for the two clubs in Düsseldorf and Essen is German national padel player and long-time team coach Daniel Lingen. “As a recognized padel expert, he is the ideal contact for anyone trying out the sport for the first time as well as for those who want to develop their skills at a high or even the highest level,” says Tobias Deventer. Senior national player Olaf Knütel is also available for training sessions.

Regular tournaments are planned, including a generational tournament on the opening weekend from February 2 to 4. Partners are the car manufacturer Cupra and Gottfried Schultz Autohandels SE, Essen. You can already register for the tournament at www.rankedin.com. Independently of the tournament, there will be an opportunity to get to know the sport.
