TÜV NORD Akademie and the HsH Academy at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HsH) are now working together to develop and offer further training programs for the application of hydrogen technology in companies. The aim of the partnership is to combine practical relevance and theoretical expertise. Specialists and interested individuals will be given a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the entire value chain of this future technology.

Roland Bursy, Managing Director of TÜV NORD Akademie, and Prof. Martin Grotjahn, Vice President of Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts for Research, Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Continuing Education, signed the cooperation agreement. TÜV NORD Akademie is thus expanding its range of training courses in the field of hydrogen technology, including energy, plant engineering and safety.

“Training in the field of hydrogen technology will be of central importance for companies, as it is a key element for the decarbonization of various industries and the energy transition,” explains Roland Bursy, ”building up expertise in this area enables companies to develop innovative solutions, open up new markets and gain competitive advantages.”

The hydrogen laboratory - the innolab Energy LIVE - at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts is due to be completed this summer and will strengthen research into the development of small hydrogen-based devices for mobile and stationary use. The research activities in the field of hydrogen technology will significantly improve the quality and depth of teaching, which will benefit future generations of learners. Prof. Ulrich Lüdersen is responsible for the scientific management of hydrogen.

Prof. Martin Grotjahn emphasizes “For us as a university, cooperation with practice is generally of central importance, and this applies in particular to our continuing education. With our own HsH Academy, we have to offer content that is always up to date. We can only do this if different partners concentrate on their core competencies. That's why we are very happy to work with TÜV NORD Akademie.”

As early as 2023, the Chief Human Resources Officer of TÜV NORD AG, Astrid Petersen, held talks with the President of the university, Josef von Helden, about possible areas of cooperation. As part of the strategy to expand cooperation with universities, this paved the way for cooperation between the HsH Academy and TÜV NORD Akademie.

TÜV NORD Akademie and the HsH Academy describe the partnership as closely interlinked. Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts provides its specialist knowledge and laboratory resources, while TÜV NORD Akademie is responsible for the organization, the close practical relevance and, in the future, the certification of the further training courses. The courses are planned from 2025 and offer participants a high degree of flexibility through face-to-face and remote events with state-of-the-art control and video technology in the laboratory.
