Essen: A daycare center will be built on the TÜV NORD CAMPUS in Essen-Frillendorf for around 4 million euros. Up to 60 children can be looked after under the management of Kinderhut from August 2025. The company successfully operates several daycare centers in Germany. The building itself is planned with “green building” aspects in mind: For example, the energy required for the building can be generated sustainably with a solar system on the roof.TÜV NORD worked closely with the future operator in advance to ensure that the building would be exactly right for the daycare center's operations.

In addition to the 760 square meters in the building, the daycare center will have an 800 square meter outdoor area. There will be a total of around 60 childcare places in four groups for children aged 6 months to 6 years. Of these 60 childcare places, 20 will be available to TÜV NORD GROUP employees. The opening is planned for August; however, as this is a new building that is currently under construction, the opening date cannot be guaranteed one hundred percent. In the unlikely event that the opening is postponed, the future operator will support Kinderhut and provide alternatives.

“We see the building as an investment in the future, as the investment will pay for itself through the rental income,” explains Christian Gorris, Managing Director of TÜV NORD Immobilien.
In addition to the educational focus, the operator Kinderhut attaches great importance to longer opening hours, few closing days and a high childcare ratio. All Kinderhut facilities have a cook who prepares fresh meals every day. This means that individual meals for allergies and intolerances can also be catered for.

“As a socially committed employer, the TÜV NORD GROUP supports the individual challenges of our employees' life phases,” says Meike Reuter, Head of HR Solutions & Governance at TÜV NORD AG. “With the new daycare center on our company premises, we are making the Group even more attractive as an employer in Essen.”

The new daycare center is operated by Kinderhut. The family-run service company based in Essen was founded in 1995. It currently employs around 400 staff. Kinderhut operates daycare centers at more than 25 locations throughout Germany. Its customers include Evonik, Vodafone, ifm and Janssen-Cilag. A 20-year co-contract was concluded. “We are delighted about the strong partnership for the compatibility of work and family and about having been involved in the planning phase at an early stage in order to be able to contribute our wishes for the implementation of our educational concept,” says Kinderhut Managing Director Till Bremen.
