The TÜV NORD GROUP is further expanding its range of testing, inspection and certification services for building materials, components, windows, doors, gates and facades. In June 2024, TÜV NORD International GmbH & Co. KG acquired a stake in SIPIZ AG, which emerged from the predecessor organizations EMPA and VKF ZIP.
Together, a modern test center for construction products will be established in Switzerland, in which TÜV NORD's many years of expertise in setting up and operating test centers will be brought to bear. SIPIZ's established services in the testing, inspection and certification of construction products and its comprehensive range of training courses in the field of windows, doors and fire protection will be bundled and further expanded.
The TÜV NORD GROUP is thus consistently expanding its extensive fire testing expertise. As a TÜV NORD GROUP company, DMT already acquired a stake in the PfB Test Center for Building Elements near Rosenheim in 2022. The new partnership will expand SIPIZ's established range of services through synergies with PfB Rosenheim and other TÜV NORD GROUP testing laboratories.
SIPIZ CEO Patrick Fischer remains responsible for the operational business. In future, he will be supported by Stefanie Steinmeier, Head of Fire Engineering Product Testing, DMT, on the management board.
“This strategic partnership offers companies in the construction industry, especially in the Swiss market and neighboring regions, the advantages of regional proximity and at the same time even better access to our existing locations in Dortmund, Lathen and Rosenheim,” emphasizes Stefanie Steinmeier.

This participation enables SIPIZ to further expand its services in the field of testing, inspection and certification and to take a strong position in the national and international market. Our cooperation helps SIPIZ to effectively use and expand its expertise and resources in the field of construction products and materials,” emphasizes Patrick Fischer.
As a notified and accredited testing, inspection and certification body, SIPIZ offers all services required to issue customers with a certificate of constancy of performance for construction products in the field of fire protection. SIPIZ also monitors construction products in the timber industry. Manufacturers of construction products require this certificate in order to draw up a declaration of performance so that their products can be placed on the market throughout Europe. As a Technical Assessment Body (TAB) for the product area of doors, windows, roller shutters, gates and associated building hardware, SIPIZ can issue technical assessments (European Technical Assessments, ETAs) for this area. The ETAs provide an independent Europe-wide procedure for assessing the essential performance characteristics of non-harmonized or non-standardized construction products.
