TÜV India hosts Food OBS cluster heads meeting

The participants of the cluster heads meeting payed a visit to the food lab in Pune.

A recent cluster heads meeting for the Food OBS (Food Operative Business Segment) brought together Ulf Theike, Chief Operating Offiver Resources4Life SBS (Strategic Business Segment), with the Food OBS steering committee members and cluster heads in Pune, India. The objective of the meeting was to review the current performance of the OBS. The meeting also addressed the confirmation of the implementation of the planned strategy and updates to the same, the discussion of cluster level updates, the identification of growth drivers in each cluster, the establishment of expert groups and discussions concerning the challenges to and opportunities for international business development.

Mr Theike presented updates on broader topics pertaining to BOLD MOVE, Resourses4Life, central accreditation management and digitalisation, while also facilitating the discussions on strategic directions from the TÜV NORD GROUP perspective.

An important aspect of the meeting was the visit to TUV India's central laboratory in Pune, which tests not only food but also home and personal care products, chemicals, packaging material, compliance with REACH (EU directive Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and RoHS (EU directive Restriction of Hazardous Substances) etc., and is the designated competence centre for these activities within the TÜV NORD GROUP.

The team visited TUV India’s product testing laboratory which was established last year to offer testing of electrical, electronic and IT products, safety testing, EMI/EMC testing, and the testing of industrial machinery and various other products as per national and international standards.

According to Kaustubh Korde, Executive Vice President – Food OBS, the OBS cluster heads meeting provided a framework for the sharing of valuable experiences gained in the first six months of BOLD MOVE implementation and for re-evaluating strategies and approaches. “The meeting resulted in the setting up of expert groups for strategic collaboration on critical process areas and in a comprehensive list of measures for immediate implementation. It was also a matter of pride to host our international colleagues and showcase the strengths of TUV India while creating the conditions for both collaborative and cultural exchanges.”

The participants also visited TUV India's new product testing lab.
