TÜV NORD Mobilität’s new certification body focuses on functional safety in the automotive and railway sectors, as well as on fire safety in the railway sector.

The German accreditation body DAkkS has accredited TÜV NORD Mobilität as a certification body for processes and components in the railway and automotive sectors. With this first accredited certification body, the company is expanding its own portfolio. “At the same time, by focusing on manufacturers in the railway and automotive sectors, it can address the requirements of the mobility industry even more specifically and capitalise on synergies,” says Christoph Rübcke, Head of the new certification body and Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management in the Business Field Railway Companies at TÜV NORD Mobilität.
The certification body is responsible for the certification of software, hardware, software-hardware systems and processes in the field of railway technology. Other areas of activity include fire safety in railway technology and functional safety in the automotive sector. This is based, amongst other things, on the international standards EN 50716, ISO 26262 and EN 45545. Following successful certification, depending on the task, scope of testing and product, conformity marks such as “Safety Approved”, “Trusted Tool”, “Trusted Process” and “Trusted Production” may be awarded.
